2019 Ben Haines Chardonnay
Hand-picked from two glorious Yarra Valley vineyards; one in Coldstream, the other in the cool climes of the Upper Yarra.
Intense flavour and creamy textural generosity from Coldstream is complemented by crystalline purity, minerality and tension of the higher altitudes of the Yarra Valley.
2019 Fleet Wines Rosé
This thirst-quenchingly dry rosé from Fleet is perfect for this autumnal weather. Ripe and round with a salivating tail of acidity. It’s hard to believe how quickly a glass evaporates!
Dusty copper/pink colour, aromas of fresh strawberry, red currants, hint of herbal spice. Palate is fine and savoury, a little textural, with a dry crisp finish. 50% Cabernet Sauvignon + 50% Syrah sourced from the Galli Estate vineyard in Sunbury.
2019 Jackson Brooke Pinot Meunier
Hard to define and hard to resist too. The "other" Pinot, Meunier is often paler than Noir, with an earthy, autumnal note and a light but crisp tannins. Usually made into sparkling, Western Victoria is the heart of Meunier red wine production in Australia, maybe the world.
Raspberry, strawberry, baking spice and autumn leaves. Serve it lightly chilled as a fuller bodied rosé or at room temp. as a light red.
2019 Valentine Wines Grenache
A great example of mod-Oz Grenache, and makes it clear why people talk about it being a bridge between Pinot Noir and Shiraz. Sourced from the Mount Camel Ranges in northern section of Heathcote.
Soft red fruits. Crunchy, cranberry-like acidity and refreshing tannin profile compliment the upfront juicy fruit the variety is known for.
2016 Caviste Wines Syrah
The fruit was sourced from "Yarraland" vineyard on the southern boundary of the Yarra Valley. Fermented with 10% whole bunch component for 10 days and then pressed out into new (25%) and old French barriques and hogsheads.
Inky dark fruit aromas are complimented with spicy savory notes, licorice and cedar. The medium bodied palate is fresh and juicy with black cherry, plums and spice. Fine tannins provide a certain grip and focus to a long persistent finish.
